Friends…{a personal post}

April 27, 2015

“In friendship…we think we have chosen our peers. “In friendship…we think we have chosen our peers. In reality a few years’ difference in the dates of our births, a few more miles between certain houses, the choice of one university instead of another…the accident of a topic being raised or not raised at a first meeting–any of these chances might have kept us apart. But, for a Christian, there are, strictly speaking no chances. A secret master of ceremonies has been at work. Christ, who said to the disciples, “Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you,” can truly say to every group of Christian friends, “Ye have not chosen one another but I have chosen you for one another.” The friendship is not a reward for our discriminating and good taste in finding one another out. It is the instrument by which God reveals to each of us the beauties of others.”
-C.S. Lewis

My cup runneth over with amazing friends.

This session was totally a personal session that I wanted to do with all my friends. All of these girls are apart of a very special group of friends that I have. A group that I think C.S. Lewis described so accurately about in the quote above. All of these women are so different and bring so much richness to my life and the lives of each other.

We have a teacher, counselor, midwife, beautician, etc. All so diverse!

We have some that are quiet, some that are opinionated, some that are loud, some that are artists and some that can’t spell artsy. There are some who married their high school sweethearts and there are some who’ve just gotten married.

We are all moms.

These women have thrown last minute baby showers for unexpected blessings. They’ve come together to renovate a house for a friend in desperate need of help. They’ve cooked meals for the sick. They’ve organized fundraisers for the friend who’s daughter was fighting cancer. One of the women have delivered several of our children.

We’ve laughed together.

We’ve cried.

We’ve been silly.

We’ve been serious.

We’ve celebrated.

We’ve played.

I can only imagine the amount of coffee that’s been shared.

We are blessed.

Today was all about fun. It was all about seeing these women laugh and let loose. They carry big burdens sometimes.

Life can be hard.
Our children can be difficult.
Our husband’s jobs can cause long hours.
Our jobs can be challenging.

But then we can come together on a Sunday afternoon and let that all fade away for just a minute.

I love all you ladies and am grateful that God placed you in my life! I hope you had fun today!
