I met Steve and Alisha a couple of years ago. It took about 5 seconds to realize they were special. They had contacted me to do pictures for a pregnancy announcement. But not just a regular one, they were having triplets!!! It was such an exciting and special time for them. But one that ended in heartbreak. I remember when I heard that they lost the triplets so close to their due date and I wept for them. No one “deserves” to lose a child or children. But it felt especially painful to watch them go through it. The Bible talks about how hope deferred makes the heart sick. Steve and Alisha have a deep desire in their heart to be parents. And honestly they are definitely going to be amazing parents.

Over the last two years, the struggle to have children has continued for them. But I’ve watched them through love, loss and perseverance forge on with hope and beautiful anticipation of God’s promise of a child. We’ve done several sessions since the triplets, but their last email had me crying again, but for the best reason!

I asked Alisha to share her story! It’s been amazing to be a spectator in this and to learn so much from these guys. Life has painful circumstances. It’s what we choose to do with those circumstances that makes us the people we are. Steve and Alisha have mourned, they’ve hurt. But they’ve grown and let God heal the places in their heart that were hurt by the loss. They’ve not grown bitter and cold, they’ve chosen life.

Thank you guys for showing me what it means to move forward and grow in in the midst of grief. You’re an example to so many. I hope people learn from your story!

“Kelly has been there to capture the best and the worst days of our lives. She captures raw emotions and turns them into something beautiful that will always be remembered. The first time Steve and I met Kelly, it was to take pictures for a pregnancy announcement. After a battle with infertility, I was pregnant with triplets and we’re so excited to share with the world this special gift. At the time, I had been following Kelly on Facebook. Her pictures were beautiful and I had heard great things about her. This photo session was fun, creative, and full of laughter.

When I 9 weeks shy of our due date, due to a life threatening infection that had developed in my womb, we had to make the decision to go through an emergency delivery knowing that our precious babies would not survive. On July 24, 2014 I gave birth to Cole Thomas, Ember Lee, and Ashlyn May. We were blessed to be able to spend the first and last moments of their lives with them. When Steve and I returned home, we arrived to a beautiful book that Kelly had made for us filled with our announcement pictures. At that moment we would forever be loyal to Kelly.

Over the next couple years, Kelly was there to capture our grief and healing as we learned how to move forward. She captured us dancing at our friend’s wedding and she helped us send out Christmas cards that captured the given year and we were constantly recommended her to our family and friends.

A couple of months ago, I reached out to Kelly to help us announce exciting news again. She responded so quickly that I was determined she could see my message as I was typing it. Even though Kelly is booked through the summer, she was beyond willing to capture this moment in our life. Not only did she take our pictures, but she shared in the tears of joy. Her generous actions never cease to amaze me.

Through these struggles, we have come to understand that God has a plan for us and we trust Him in that. Sometimes the bad things that happen in our lives put us directly on the path to the best things that will ever happen to us. Because Kelly has been there to capture the different phases of our life, her pictures are going to be a big part of our future. Her pictures are what are going to allow a birthmother to make us parents. This birthmother is going to see the struggles we have encountered, the love that we share, and the beautiful rainbow that occurs after a storm, all through the eyes of Kelly Fisk.”
